As an initiative to bridge the gap between academia and industry, students from the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Business, President University (Presuniv), visited PT Swen Inovasi Transfer (Swen IT) in Ciomas, Bogor, on Thursday, 14 September 2023. The visit aimed to expose the students to cutting-edge sustainable farming techniques such as biogas production, integrated farming, and hydroponic farming systems. The visit was part of Presuniv educational program which is designed to align student learning with practical, real-world applications. Swen IT, biogas production and integrated farming practices, welcomed the students with an in-depth explanation of their company activities and philosophy as well as a visit to their facilities, which highlighted the company’s innovative approaches to agribusiness.
Students were introduced to the world of biogas production, where they observed how agricultural waste is converted into renewable energy which combines crop cultivation and livestock rearing in a synergistic model. Students witnessed how nutrient cycling and resource efficiency are optimized in this model, resulting in reduced waste and increased yields.
Throughout the company visit, industry experts from Swen IT offered valuable insights into the various farming systems and answered questions from the students. “Engaging with the future leaders in the agribusiness sector is important to us,” said Renita, Development Manager of Swen IT. She added, “We hope that they take this knowledge back to their classrooms and eventually, into their careers.” (Dani Lukman, Head of Agribisnis Study Program. Foto: Dani Lukman).
