The Faculty of Engineering, President University (PresUniv), held a Technology and Science in Life (TSL) 2022: The competition was conducted in a hybrid format, Monday (13/6). The competition, which was for SMA/SMK students throughout Indonesia, was in five categories, namely; Innovation for a Better Life, Application of IoT in Daily Life, Disruptive Innovation and their Impact, Minimalist Home Design Made of Local Materials, Innovation and Technology for Pollution, Disaster, and Climate Change Issues. This competition was opened by Dr. Ir. BMAS Anaconda Bangkara, M.T., M.SM., the Head of the Study Program (Prodi), Mechanical Engineering. Says Anaconda, “Winning and losing is a journey. However, the most important thing is that hopefully, this TSL can enable us to create innovations and to develop the knowledge obtained through offline classes, “he said.
In this TSL competition, SMA Negeri 4 Denpasar won 3rd place by creating Onglow (concrete with glass powder), a product that can be used to prevent soil erosion by the sea. 2nd place wins by SMA Negeri 3 Semarang, which made the BIPACS (Biopore Positioning and Calculating System) application. This tool serves to help the community determine a suitable location for making infiltration wells or biopores based on the water absorption rate and the groundwater table’s depth. The first place was awarded to SMK Nurul Barqi, Semarang, which created Jago Stove. This tool monitors the stove’s condition, turns off the stove automatically, and detects gas leaks.
