Faculty of Engineering President Univ Again Holds Technology and Science in Life Event

Sunday (12/6), the Faculty of Engineering, President University (PresUniv), again held Technology and Science in Life (TSL) 2022. TSL is a national Technology orientated Event targeted to high school students. The event featured a wide range of activities, such as a competition, webinar, and exhibition of projects. The event was attended by high school students from all over Indonesia. For this webinar, TSL presented two speakers, namely Rahmat Hidayat, S.T., CEO of Innovative Technology at PT Mahakarya Innovation Bangsa, and Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, Ph.D, Head of Department of Remote Sensing and Head of Division of Earth Environmental Science at Josaphat Microwave Remote Sensing Laboratory (JMRSL). This year the theme of the TSL was “ Altering the Better World with Innovative Technology & Science”.

To make an innovation, Rahmat said, you can not only read the theory in the library, but you also have to be able to see the various problems that exist in the community. “Innovation is not only about big things or having a big impact. Even things that are considered small can become innovations if they provide solutions to problems that are always recurring and troubling,” he explained. In this webinar, Rahmat also explained Inorder, an innovate application made by him to make it easier to order food and drinks at restaurants.

Meanwhile, Prof. Josaphat conveyed some of his innovations using microwave remote sensing. One of the innovations made by Prof. Josaphat is GAIA-I. “This satellite aims to find out or predict the location of an earthquake. This can be predicted in less than three days. In addition to earthquakes, this satellite can also predict the occurrence of landslides and volcanic eruptions,” he explained. (Gilang Suryanata, PR team. Photo: Gilang)
