Over the past 20 years, there have been many studies on the impact of particulate PM 2.5 (Particulate Matter) on human health. PM 2.5 is an air particle smaller than 2.5 microns (micrometers). In order to discuss PM 2.5, Biru Voice held a roadshow entitled Bersuara untuk Udara Bersih to President University (PresUniv), Tuesday (21/6). This event was presented by two speakers, namely Novita Natalia K, Community Manager at Bicara Udara and Prabu Setyaji, Data Analyst at Nafas. The online roadshow was hosted by Yogi Saputra Mahmud, S.Pd., M.TESOL, a lecturer in the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, PresUniv.
Prabu said PM 2.5 pollution is one of the biggest global problems that pose a threat to human health. “Because the particles are smaller than red blood cells they cannot be filtered by the human body. These particles are also able to enter the circulatory system,” he explained. Prabu also revealed that almost the entire Jabodetabek area has unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups based on data from Nafas in May 2022.
Meanwhile, Novita said that air is one of the basic needs, so it is necessary to increase awareness of air issues. Therefore, Novita introduced Blue Voices, a program from Bicara Udara, Nafas Indonesia, and dan Yayasan Indonesia Cerah. This program will select the 10 best campaign ambassadors to voice the importance of the right to clean air and encourage air quality improvements in the local environment.
