President University Joins the Consortium to Build Disaster Resilience Universities

President University attended the Kick-Off Meeting of Erasmus + Building Universities in Leading Disaster Resilience (BUiLD) at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Yogyakarta on Monday (12/2). The meeting was attended by a number of universities from various regions in Indonesia and Europe who are members of the BuiLD project.

European universities participated in the meeting are University of Gloucestershire (UOG) from the United Kingdom, Kobenhavns Professionshojskole (KP) from Denmark, Hafelekar (HAF) from Austria, dan Instituto Politecnico do Porto (IPP) from Portugal. Meanwhile, Indonesian universities participated in the meeting are President University, Universitas Andalas, Khairun University, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Islam Indonesia, University of Muhammadiyah Palu,  Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, dan University of Surabaya.

The BuiLD Project itself was organized with the aim that every partner university incorporated in the project could become a well-equipped disaster resilient university. This meeting was coordinated by Nadine Sulkowski from the University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

The representatives from President University present in the meeting were the Rector of President University Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, the Director of President Research Center Prof. Dr. Ir. Sony Heru Priyanto, M.M., the Director of President University’s Business Incubator Setsail BizAccel Adhi Setyo Santoso, S.T., MBA., and Faculty of Business lecturer Rendika Nugraha, MBA.

“On the first day, we received an explanation of the BUiLD consortium project in general and an explanation of each work package for the BUiLD project,” Rendika said while explaining the activities at this meeting. “We will continue the second-day meeting at Ahmad Dahlan University with a detailed discussion of each work package,” he continued.

Through this project, Erasmus+ donated 1 million Euros or around 16 billion Rupiahs. The funds are used to compile this project which includes curriculum, research, and education on disasters.

“In the future, we hope President University can become a university that has an important role in disaster response management through this project, of course, with the cooperation with partner universities who are the members of the BUiLD project,” said Rendika. (SL)
